Here are some images of my creation process for this project:
First, I took this picture with my phone through the windshield of my car on a rainy day
Then, I vectorized this image in Illustrator using the 3-Color image trace function. I then made the lightest of the three colors white to act as negative space, made the mid-tone colored vectors into light blue outlines so that they would come out as vector engravings when put through the laser cutter, and the darkest vectors black so that they would be raster cut.
Finally, uploaded this illustrator file to the laser printer and printed on a 1/8" thick piece of acrylic, which resulted in this
